Felt shoes is the most favorite group of products range which includes solid-rolled and stitched slippers, shoes for kids and felt boots. Rods, as they are called in Russia, made a conquest of people’s love. And it is for a good reason. The following information about them is from Internet: “Village old people, who wear felt boots even in summer, state that if a child wears felt boots till 10 year old age he will never be sick. Of course, they are exaggerating. Panacea is not developed yet. Nevertheless, felt boots really helps in various ailments.

Most of all people are interested in production of our solid-rolled slippers

Their production process is similar to production of classic felt boots. Merely now production of felt boots is fully mechanized and they are dyed in semi-finished product. And our production is based on hand making from preliminarily dyed wool. Our slippers are made by wet felting of combination of local sheep wool and New Zealand cross-bred wool.

First stage is preparative which includes sorting, hackling and dying of wool. Further wool is laid on the mould from two sides

moistened with hot soap solution and it repeats for several layers. Then a pattern is laid out. After preliminary condensing the sub-product is cut, mould is taken away, and they wrap the sub-product in silk napkin or other synthetic fabric and do finishing work by end-to-end felting:

till the necessary size and thickness. This is very labour- intensive, responsible and long process of felting which demands much enough energy. Therefore only men do this. To put the sub-product into shape of shoes they put it on the moulds of corresponding size. Felt slippers which are put on the moulds are to be gone for straightening the upturns and they should be completely seat on the moulds:

  

The next step is drying and cleaning.

The last stage is laying a protector on a sole, or other version is putting a rubber sole.
